Fallout 3 had it's share of encounters, but I think that Fallout 1 and 2, especially 2, had more variety when it came to encounters.Īnd while we're bringing back blowing holes in flesh, bring back crotch shot! Yes, there are the radscorpion, the raider encounters, sure, but there was also encounters where factions are fighting other factions, animals fighting other animals, special encounters, caravan encounters, random encounters where your character has to stop and search for water or has to recover from rough terrain, encounters with farmers, prospectors, gangs, encounters with explorable caves, and just plain strange things. Both Fallout 1 and 2 had various, different, and interesting encounters. Hell yeah!įallout 1 and 2 had the same amount of random encounters, if not more, than Fallout 3. Oh, and bring back being able to blow a guy's chest open with powerful shots. I'm sure that won't be the case with the new engine, and if they can add animations for strafing (no more gliding over the floor), I'm one happy gamer. Just traveling from town to town, quest point a to b, you could encounter either a single radscorpion or 6 raiders with automatic weapons. The only part where I think old Obsidian (aka Black Isle) failed was with their wide spectrum of random encounter possibilities that were possible right at the start of the games Fallout 1 and 2. Looks like I might be one of the rare ones that both played and enjoyed Fallout 1, 2, and 3.
